The most popular wedding trends tend to repeat from year to year, but there are always a few new themes that get traction (usually inspired by some pop culture phenomenon). Here's a round-up of themes, some perennial, some brand new, that couples are building their weddings around in 2018:
•             Rustic weddings continue to be the most popular theme for weddings that don't need to be formal. Here, both ceremony and reception can be held al fresco (or the ceremony can take place in a church or other indoor venue decorated with rustic touches and the festivities then moved outdoors). Fairy woodland and a tropical beachy vibe are trendy decor schemes that can be loads of fun to implement.
•             A consistent color scheme is also a popular way to harmonize the many different elements that go into a wedding celebration. In 2018, black and white is a classic choice, with palettes of pink, gold and rose gold or ultraviolet (Pantone's color of the year) a great option for fashion-forward brides.
•             One trend that goes against the grain of increasing informality in modern nuptials is the Art Deco themed wedding. This is a great choice for couples with interest in history who want to pull out all the stops by honoring an era of beautiful design. Everything from the bride's dress to table service and choice of reception music can feature the elegant angular lines and posh materials of the Art Deco period. Think Great Gatsby, candles reflecting in silver wear, calla lilies and marble dancefloors for inspiration.
•             Experiential touches are the millennial way, and many younger unions lace their ceremony and reception with opportunities for guests to experience new things. This can take the form of using food trucks to deliver a mix and match meal to cultural rituals that are specific to the wedding couple's heritage (think Japanese tea ceremony or the many eye-catching customs that traditionally are part of a Hindu wedding).
